Authors review previous research which did not confirm the Level of Aspiration Theory idea that people prefer to date someone with “social desirability” levels close to their own. Therefore, the authors modified theoretical expectations.

The current trials, described in the articles, they aimed to test the matching hypothesis. These trials confirmed the concept of matching in social choice under all contexts of choice.
