English summary

The strength of the main romantic myths and the link between sex, love, and marriage in Spain were investigated using data from a representative sample of the Spanish population (1,949 participants between the ages of 18 and 65). Interviewers created a survey and administered it. The findings reveal the power of these myths as well as the relationship between the three variables stated above. Women, people with fewer years of formal education, and the elderly were more likely to believe in the myths, and there was a stronger relationship between sex, love, and marriage in these groups. The results are addressed in the context of several psychosocial theories.
